Telangana Kamma History:
KAMMAS ORIGIN: There are several theories regarding kamma's origin but none of them is conclusive. Kammas may be migrated from Indus Valley Civilisation to Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar in Telangana and Coastal Andhra 4,000 years back with some workers and servents. Kammas main Goddess is Kakatamma from the centuries. Kakatamma children might be called as Kammas. Kammas dominated / ruled area was called as kammanadu.
for example
Rattadi---> Reddy
Kakatamma --> Kamma
Kakatamma verulu --> Kamma varu
[Some people may confuse that Rastrakuta word turned as Raddi but there were no proofs for this argument, many people believe that Rastrakuta is different from that of Reddy. Reddy is village sarpanch in Rastrakuata kings administration]
Telangana Kammas origin is Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar districts. Some of them migrated to Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra after the fall of Kakatiya Kingdom. Some Coastal Andhra Kammas migrated to Khammam, Warangal , Nalgonda and mixed with Local Telangana Kammas over the centuries. In the past there was Kammanadu in Coastal Andhra consisting Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur, Krishna, West Godavari, East Godavari and parts of Khammam District .

CHALUKYA PERIOD 750 AD to 1100 AD: During this period kammas lived as Jagirdars in Khammam District. Some of them worked as soldiers/army commanders in Chalukya Army.
KAKATIYA PERIOD 950 AD TO 1325 AD : Kammas worked as soldiers and army commanders under Kakatiyas. Some Coastal Andhra Kammas migrated to Telangana and mixed with Telangana kammas during this kakatiya period. During Kakatiya Period Kammas got prominence and ruled large areas in Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar, Nalgonda Districts. In the beginning they worked as Raddi (Gramadhikari) under Rastrakutas Administration during 10th century. After that they become independent kings. Reddi means Gramadhikari/Vishayadhikari in Rastrakuta Administration. This Reddi name came in to existence in Andha Pradesh during and after Rastrakuta rule in AP. Velama caste born Recheral Nami Reddy used Reddi name to denote Gramadhikari post. You can also consider Konda Reddies in this context, Few Kamma families got few jagirs in Khammam, Nalgonda, Karimnagar and Warangal Districts during Kakatiya period.
KAKTIYA BASTAR STATE 1330 AD TO 1950AD: BASTAR state was a princely state founded by Kakatiya King Annam Deo who migrated to Bastar after the fall of Warangal state. Annam Deo decendents ruled the state for 6 centuries. They claimed kakatiya origin.
Kamma Jagirdars in Telangana (These claims are to be validated) :
(a) Malyala Nayakulu (Nalgonda District)
(b) Khammam Rulers (Khammam Fort)
(c) Vidiyala Nayakulu (Warangal District)
(d) Polasa Rajulu (Karimnagar District)

NAYAK/VELAMA PERIOD 1325 AD to 1450 AD: During this period kammas lived as Farmers / Jargirdars. During this period they fought in favor of Rajus against Velamas at Jallipalli fort. Inspite of Kamma Jagirdars help Rajus were defeated by Velamas. 90% of Telangana Rajus were killed by Velamas in that war and after that Rajus rule ended in Telangana. The stories written about Jallipalli war were describing the presence of some kamma jagirdars in Khammam and Warangal districts during that period. Lacs of Velamas migrated to Coastal Andhra & Uttarandhra between 1650 and 1800 due to some political reasons. You can find 30 lacs velamas now in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Vishakapatnam, E.Godavari, W. Godavari, Nellore, Chittore Districts of Andhra Area.
MUSLIM PERIOD: Kammas lost prominence during this period and lived as farmers. Some kammas who supported muslims got some Dora/Jagirdar posts in Khammam, Warangal, Nalgonda and Karimnagar Districts. Some kammas migrated from Guntur, Krishna, West Godavari districts to Nizamabad district for their livelihood during this period.
Migration: Number of Kammas migrating Andhra to Telangana particularly Hyderabad in want of their livelihood, jobs, business. Nearly 3 lac people migrated to Telangana till now. Kammas are treated as economically backward farward community in Telangana because so many of them are poor / migrated people. Comments of Andhra Kammas like Lagadapati (Nellore), Paladugu Venkatrao(Krishna), Renuka Chowdary (West Godavari/Chittore), etc. against Telangana State is also making lot of trouble to Telangana Kamma settlers. Some Kammas want to go to Andhra / Visakhapatnam / Bangalore after Telagana State formation. They are waiting for Telangana State Formation. Some of them selling their properties and shifting to Visakhapatnam / Andhra / Bangalore

Migration of people was occuring all through the times due to wars and famines.The peasnts that originally inhabited kammarashtram/kammanadu, which broadly correspond to the region between Eluru( west godavari) to Kandukur(Prakasam) were probably called kammavaru. All the peasants (including velamas and reddies) in general were termed kapus. Reddy is in fact an honorofic title. The title was used by velamas, kammas and Gollas also.
After Palnadu war the political power shifted to Warangal. So number of kammas shifted to warangal.In the book 'castes and tribes of HEH, the Nizam's Dominions', 'Kamma Kapus' were considered part of Kapu category along with Reddy groups.In this Book it was mentioned Kammas have two categories-'Illu Vellani' and 'Gampa Chatu'. It was stated that Kammas are concentrated in the Eastern part of Warangal Subah.
Even in the work of Edgar Thurston, ' Castes and Tribes of South India' Reddies were described as Kapus. The oral renderings of 'Pichigunta' story tellers and 'Bhatrajus' as brought out in Thurston's compilation point to common origin of kamma, velama and Reddy. The same is also supported in the work 'Velugoti vari vamsavali', wherein the originator of velama rulers was described as one Belthi Reddy.
KAKATIYAS
" Ganapati Deva's sister Melambika was married to the second son of Chagi Buddaraju, who was ruling Natavadi region. Ganapatideva's first daughter Rudramadevi was married to Veerabhadra, Eastern Chalukyanprince of Nidadavolu and his second daughter Ganapamba was married to Kota Betaraja. After this marital alliance with the three Kshatriya clans of Chagis, Eastern Chalukyas and Kota Vamsa, Kakatiyas started claiming Kshatriya status as evidenced by an inscription found in Guntur District. As Rudramma Devi's husband Veerabhadra was from Eastern Chalukya family of Kashyapa gotra, subsequently Kakatiya rulers mentioned themselves as Kshatriyas of Kashyapa Gotra in their inscriptions."

BUT THIS HAS TO BE CHECKED because CHALUKYA KINGS WERE OF 'DHANANJAYA' GOTHRA.
CHAGI'S ARE ' VASHISHTA' GOTHRA. KOTA KINGS ARE OF ' DHNANJAYA' GOTHRA.
RAJUS ( TELUGU KSHATRIYAS) ARE OF FOUR GOTHRAS VIZ. VASHISHTA, DHANANJAYA, KASHYAPA AND KAUNDINYASA . HENCE THE KAKATIYA KINGS' GOTHRA HAS BEEN 'KASHYAPA'.
--------------
The Dynasties that ruled the Telugu land with their origins/roots.
a) PARICHEDIS ( Guhila , Vishnukundin Clan ) - Their gothra 'Vashishta'
b) KOTA/ DHARANI KOTA ( Kubja Vishnuvardhana , Eastern Chalukya Clan) - 'Dhananjaya' gothra
c) KAKATI/KAKATIYA ( Karikala Chola, Kakati Prola Raju Clan) - Their gothra 'Kashyapa'
d) VARNATA ( Aditya chola, Varnata Rajendra Chola/ Rajendra Choda Clan) - Their gothra ' Kaundinyasa'
---------------------------------------
'Chagi Dynasty' of Andhra was belonging to Rajus( Telugu speaking Kshatriyas). This term Chagi has become Sagi / Saagi now. Vashshta is their gothra.
Even today this Gothra and Sagi/Saagi surname Rajus are seen.
Anakapalli ( Vizag) Zamindars who had 'Payaka Rao' as their title belonged to this Sagi family only. Padmanbham ( Vizianagaram district,AP) Zamindars also were from Sagi clan only.
Other Telugu Royal families 'Poosapati/Pusapati' kings who ruled from Vizianagaram ( Northern Andhra), Vatsavaya rulers of Peddapuram ( East Godavari district), Kakarlapudi Zamindars of Kota Ramachandrapuram ( east Godavari district) , Thettu
( Nellore district) Vegnedla surname zamindars are 'Vashishta' Gothra Rajus only. Freedom fighter Alluri Seetharama Raju's gothra also Vashishta only.
In fact these 'Vashishta' gothra Rajus are descendants of Vishnukundin and Parichedi dynasties that ruled the Telugu land.
HENCE KAKATIYA KINGS' GOTHRA should be 'Kashyapa' which exactly fits into the matrimonial / marriage pattern of the Rajus ( telugu Kshatriyas). Kakatiyas mostly married 'Dhananjaya' and 'Vashishta' gothra Rajus.
Ongole Mandapati kings who were contemporaries of Kakatiyas had good relation with them, Mandapati Rajus' gothra is also 'Kashyapa'.
HISTORIANS / SCHOLARS TO LOOK AT THE ABOVE POINTS BEFORE THEY COME TO ANY CONCLUSION.
